Jay Hall Carpenter has received multiple awards for his sculptures. One of his major achievements is the work that he did for the Washington National Cathedral; over 20 years, he created the original carver’s models for over 500 sculptures of saints, angels, grotesques, and gargoyles that adorn the building.

He has also completed commissions from the State Department, the Smithsonian Institution, Canterbury Cathedral, the New England Medical Center, and the State of Maryland, among others.
